kyle and i at [YC09
i was at yc on the weekend and it was AMAZING! i had such a great time. i spent a ton of money though. i wasn’t even in the building for 3 minutes and i had spend $45..it was crazy. shirts drain money, and the food at rexal is so insanely expensive! $4.75 for a large pop and $4 for a water. i was not happy about it. i pretty much just filled up my water bottle all weekend.
friday night was so great. especially for just getting there. everyone was on such a high and so excited to be there and we were not let down. the opening was so amazing. they has such great pyro. so exciting. then ‘david crowder‘ lead worship and we had a session from reggie dabbs. after that it was time for ‘relient k‘! so stellar. i knew every single song and was so excited. they’re one of my favourite bands and i was dying to see them live. some people were like, -ooh..they’re too mellow for the first night-, yeah..almost got your face torn off right there. they were fantastic!
i pretty much hung out with kyle all day on saturday which was great. we went and bought a bunch of shirts. we were going to get ‘family force 5′ ones, but they were all sold out of everything but smalls and Xsmalls within 5 minutes. i was not impressed. i did get shirts from ‘jay and the lovebirds’, ‘hawk nelson’, ‘toby mac’, and ‘thousand foot krutch’ though. they’re extremely cool looking. i love them a lot.
we got our shirts during the first concert because it was ‘grits’ and neither kyle or i liked them. it worked out good. after we got all our clothing we headed to the ‘pillar’ line up. we were at the back of the line, but then the moved the line and we rushed to the new line. it ended up cutting like, half the line for us. haha. pretty sweet. we still had to wait, like, 30 minutes but we finally got in. we got good seats for the ‘pillar’ concert but kyle and i both hated them. not our scene. haha. we were only there to get good seats for ‘family force 5‘ afterwards. thankfully we were able to push our way down onto the floor. we were the last people allowed on. i’m pretty sure everyone hated us. it was so amazing though! they put on such an amazing show! i was so happy. i don’t think i stopped jumping and dancing that whole show.
after ‘family force 5′ we had to go back to the bus to eat. everyone else was already done cause we were supposed to meet at 4:30pm and we didn’t get there till like, 5:10pm. anyway, we ate our subs and headed to rexal to hear reggie dabbs again. he was really good, but i have to admit, i found it really hard to pay attention while reggie was speaking. probably because of all the jokes; they just distracted me. i liked judah smith better. he was talking on luke 15 about the prodigal son and how we don’t earn grace, it’s given to us because of who God is. it was really good and definitely something i needed to hear.
that night we got to hear ‘red‘ and ‘thousand foot krutch’ play. i liked ‘red’, but not nearly as much as ‘tfk‘. probably because i didn’t know their songs as well. they still put on a really good live show. kyle kept commenting on how much makeup the lead singer had on..haha. it did look kind of funny on the close-ups but you couldn’t really notice when you were just watching him. ‘tfk’ was amazing, as expected. i love them so much. especially trevor mcnevan’s voice. he’s so great. i knew almost every song they did. once again, didn’t sit down all night.
amazingly enought, sunday was really good too. i thought that it might have slowed down a but, but it didn’t. after our first session we headed off to a tasty lunch of chicken dogs. (so much better than regular ones). once we had filled our tummys we went and stood in line for ‘hawk nelson‘. it’s usually a super busy concert so we went early. we heard the last song of ‘group 1 crew‘. they weren’t my favourite but they weren’t bad either. they’re different from anything else there so it was nice to have some variety.
‘hawk nelson’ was alright. not nearly as busy as it was on saturday. i didn’t like them as much as the first time i saw them though. the lead singer’s voice was kind of off. as if he had hit puberty again. i like his voice better on the cds. thank you computer editing! they weren’t as exciting to watch either. oh well, they weren’t bad.
when we had seen our concert we headed off to get kyle some sunglasses. he picked out some sweet ones. i actually really like them. if he hadn’t gotten them i think i would have. oh well.. my youth pastor’s wife jen took me to meet some people at ambrose university/college. it was kind of awkward because i realized i have no idea what’s going on with my future. they were asking me what i wanted from my education programs and such and i just sat there like a deer in the headlights with no idea. guess it’s something i’ll need to look into more.
sunday evening closed off with a ‘toby mac‘ concert. it was FANTASTIC!! not a lot of people like him, but he was so good. i think everyone in the arena was having a good time. he’s so much fun to watch and he has so much energy. i think i would be lying on the floor passed out within 5 minutes of his show. haah. i jumped and danced the whole hour and a half. that’s probably why my legs hurt so bad.
so, i guess what i’m trying to say is: live it loud [YC09] was amazing and i’m already looking forward to next year. =]]-breanna
